Capital Assistance Program - APPLICATIONS EXTENDED

Capital Assistance Program - APPLICATIONS EXTENDED

The NSW Sport and Recreation Capital Assistance Program (grant) have been extended.

The maximum grant available being $30,000 for the development of local level facilities .

 

Things that are considered:


 

  • Construction of new fixed and portable facilities and infrastructure including capital equipment with a life expectancy of 15+ years
  • Enhancement of existing facilities e.g. watering systems, safety netting, lighting and upgrade of surfaces
  • Provision of ancillary facilities at established venues e.g. sun protection shelters, change rooms, shower and toilet blocks
  • Projects that increase community access to existing facilities.

This Program closes on 28th November 2008 so start your application today!

Speak to your Community Tennis Officer who can help Affiliated club's with the application form as well as provide a letter of support.

Talent Search days planned for Gunnedah and Sydney

Do you have what it takes to be the next Lleyton Hewitt or Alicia Molik?  If so, then Tennis Australia, in conjunction with Tennis NSW, has a range of Talent Search days for you.  The Talent Search program aims to identify talented athletes, aged 6-11 years, who have the aptitude and skill to play and excel in sport.  Tennis NSW has two more days planned for Gunnedah on 21 November and Sydney on 28 November, 2008.  Don't miss out on your opportunity to participate!

2008 Annual General Meeting

At the Annual General Meeting held on 28 October 2008 members of Tennis New South Wales overwhelmingly supported the adoption of a new constitution.  The restructure incorporates the recommendations of the KPMG report and represents the first step in your Board of Director's plan to restructure and modernise Tennis New South Wales and tennis in New South Wales.

Tennis NSW Nominates Preferred Playing Surface
Tennis NSW has responded to Tennis Australia’s decision to change the surface of the Australian Open to Plexicushion by nominating the new surface as Tennis NSW’s Preferred Playing Surface. A five year sponsorship agreement with Court Craft, the exclusive suppliers of the surface in NSW aims to increase the number of Plexicushion and Plexipave courts throughout NSW.

Sydney's Biggest Stage

Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre is set to become Sydney's biggest stage in 2009. Tennis officials have announced big plans for next year's Medibank International Sydney, including a world-class playing field, featuring Lleyton Hewitt, Serena Williams, David Nalbandian, Jelena Jankovic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and ramped up entertainment schedule.

HEAD - Offering clubs/coaches modified balls

Following the successful launch of Tennis Australia's Kids Starter Program - Aviva Tennis Hot Shots and the adoption of modified green tennis balls into the 10/u age groups at Medibank JDS Series events in NSW.  Tennis NSW and Official Tournament Ball Supplier, HEAD have teamed up to offer affiliated clubs and coaches in NSW access to the three levels of modified tennis balls (red, orange and green).
